Kevin has been an animal lover all his life. His first horse ride was at age 3 months and it’s been hard to keep him off horses ever since. Kevin graduated from Tarleton State University with an animal science major. He has run the family ranch since 1992 and started collecting his breeding stock of Foundation Bred Quarter Horses. In 1995 he had put together a string of mares and began his breeding of high quality stock with his 100% Foundation Stallion, Joe Don Hancock. Today, Joe Don Hancock (Segundo, as he calls him) is the father and grandfather of many of Kevin’s brood mares. Kevin has crossed Segundo’s fillies with Poco Bueno and Jessies James bloodlines producing excellent, athletic working cow horses with temperaments that even the inexperienced rider can appreciate. Kevin trains and shows his own horses in the Versatility Ranch Horse competition. As a 3 year old, Segundo and Kevin placed 1st in Trails and 5th overall at the very first Versatility class held at the Fort Worth Stock Show, standing along side the biggest ranches in Texas. He now uses Segundo’s offspring for showing as well as in roping competitions.
